Kora is to walk clockwise around a spiritual object in a mindful, reflective way. The Lindholme Island is now home to Gomde, an international Buddhist centre. In ancient times, the Island was the site of a hermitage, a Christian church and possibly a Christian monastery; it therefore has impeccable credentials as a spiritual place! In Buddhist terms circumambulation is a virtuous activity and therefore produces virtuous outcomes on many levels.
To raise money for the Peat Appeal we have organised a sponsored continous 24 hour ‘Kora’ of the Lindholme Island- which is open to all. Our aim is for 500 people to participate.
Free tea, coffee and squash for all walkers
Those who are sponsored for £20 or more will gain free entry and spending tokens for our Summer Fete on 1st September 2012
The continuous 24 hour circumambulation will take place between
6pm on Friday 6th July until 6pm on Saturday 7th July.
Please register for the walk as it will be extremely helpful to know when people plan to walk- to make sure we have no gaps in the 24 hour period! It also helps us keep track of our 500 goal!

Registration and start of the walk will take place at the meditation hall at Gomde, Lindholme Hall. We will open at 5pm on Friday 6th July. Please report here before starting.

Free refreshments available! Please wear suitable walking shoes and, if you are walking through the night, please bring a torch. Stewards will be available along the route.
One ‘Kora’ is approximately 3 kilometers on flat open tracks.
