Bluebell Woods Cherry Harvest

Gomde Lindholme Hall continues to surprise us with its gifts…. a few days ago we found the small group of cherry trees near the west of the Hall heavy with fruit.  Four of us set to work and by the afternoon we had collected 50lbs of cherries. De-stoning and freezing into the second day- we now have a small freezer of cherries for some lovely pies!

Seminar with Phakchok Rinpoche

HH Phakchok Rinpoche Teaching
The first full seminar at Gomde, Lindholme Hall, given by Phakchok Rinpoche in June 2010, was a magical delight. The teachings were personal and insightful and Rinpoche spent much time with various small groups getting to know people.

Rinpoche fostered an especially personal connection with Gomde, by volunteering to chop down several, badly placed trees in the grounds. The wood will be used in the future to help build a more elaborate shrine and we hope that Rinpoche will visit Gomde many times to use it.

Meditation Hall in the Making Meditation Hall in Use
New Kitchen Before New Kitchen After

Everyone’s very hard work over the previous months was rewarded, as the meditation hall was ready for use, adorned with shrine and brocade.  In addition the commercial kitchen produced offerings of delicious food for all our participants. The weather was glorious, warm and sunny every day, and the group harmonious and happy. In all perfect!

We would like to thank everyone who helped make the seminar possible and also all the participants for helping to create such a wonderful atmosphere. We hope you will all visit us again!

The team here is rested (a little!), and now begin the preparations for our first full seminar with Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche in September 2010.

Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche Teaching

Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche will teach The 5 Powers, 15th - 18th September and lead a full day Nagk-so puja on 19th September. We still have one or two places available at the house so anyone wishing to register please do so as soon as possible. We also have a few camping places on the land. It is also possible for visitors to stay at hotels and Bed and Breakfast places and attend the seminar as day visitors.

Registration is now open and for full details visit the web at www.gomde.org.uk. Please book early to avoid disappointment! Additionally, local sangha members have offered rooms in their homes - anyone interested please call Paulette.

Other News

Lama Tenzin Visits
Lama Tenzin (the current resident teacher at Gomde Germany/Austria and Umze- chant master - at Ka Nying Shedrup Ling monastery) will visit Gomde, Lindholme Hall to give week end teachings on 25th and 26th September. We hope this will help consolidate the teachings given earlier in the month by Chökyi Nyima.

Lama Tenzin will also come for the week commencing 23rd October. We anticipate he will give meditation and practice instruction as well as lessons in playing traditional instruments - we have a drum, two conch shells and two sets of cymbals.

Library
We would like to thank all the people who sponsored the library. Thanks to donations we have been able to acquire the full list of books suggested in the May newsletter! In addition we have received some excellent books which have been donated to the library. These books are available for reference at the house.

Land Management
Here at Lindholme Hall we have 120 acres of ancient wood and grass land which forms part of a rare habitat for many species of bird, mammal and invertebrate. We therefore wish to ensure that the land is cared for both as a secluded and beautiful environment for meditation and study of Buddhism but also to preserve and nurture the habitat.

In the next few weeks we will be gathering information in respect of land management and possible registration with ‘Higher Level Stewardship’.
We would particularly welcome help and assistance from friends who have expertise in  land / woodland management and conservation. Please contact national@gomde.org.uk or call Gomde on 01302 842503.

New air links with Easy Jet
We have just learnt that Easy Jet now fly to Robin Hood Airport  (also called Doncaster Sheffield Airport - DSA) from Amsterdam, Prague, Faro, Barcelona and Majorca. The airport is only 20 minutes drive from Gomde, Lindholme Hall making traveling here from these destinations very easy.

DSA is also served by Wizz Air which flies to most destinations in Poland.
Before booking flights to visit Gomde please check the new destinations available at DSA.

Help and Suppport
As we are a new centre which is developing very quickly, we always have opportunities for volunteers in all areas, if you would like to help please call or email Paulette- details above.

Gomde, Lindholme Hall is totally dependent upon sponsorship and donation for all its costs and projects. We therefore welcome donations and material support; expertise in fund raising is also welcome. Anyone who would like to contribute on a regular basis and become a ‘Keeper of the Estate’ please contact: national@gomde.org.uk for further information.

We hope you all have a good summer and that you have opportunity to visit us here at Gomde, Lindholme Hall.

Through practice may our minds become kinder, calmer and clearer no matter what the circumstance!
