Study, Reflection and Practice

Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche always emphasises the importance of study; his monastery at KaNying Shedrup Ling is the home of the internationally acclaimed Rangjung Yeshe Institute- Centre of Buddhist Studies for the University of Kathmandu affiliated to the University of Boston. See  www.shedra.org

Through study one clarifies doubt and deepens understanding. Study is an integral part of ´finding out for oneself´

´Do not believe just because wise men say so. Do not believe just because it has always been that way. Do not believe just because others may believe so. Examine and experience yourself.´    The Buddha- Kalama Sutra

The library was therefore one of the first things to begin here at Gomde, Lindholme Hall. Housed in one of the main south facing rooms with far reaching views over the estate, the library is a perfectly peaceful place for study.

The library is small but growing; we currently have approximately 300 volumes. Special oak shelves have been built and installed and we estimate that the current room will be able to hold 3,000 books.

Library membership is £10. Loans are for a month. All fees are reinvested into the library. It is possible to join the library when you visit the hall.

We are grateful to all those people who have generously donated precious books.

Anyone who has any books they would like to donate or who would like to sponsor library books, please contact national@gomde.org.uk or call Gomde 01302 842 503
