Cook (Live-In)
 
Hours: Full time (35 hours per week)
£11, 350 per annum plus full board, and accommodation at the Centre.
Temporary Contract for 12 months (with possible extension)

We are seeking a passionate and skilled cook. Our live-in cook will be responsible for preparing lunch and dinner five days a week for up to 25 people. You will also support the session cooks during large events and work with day volunteers who help in the kitchen.

Key tasks include creating meal plan within a budget, the provision of tasty, nutritious vegetarian meals, catering for special dietary needs, ordering and managing stock effectively to minimise waste and working with the garden team to utilise all fresh produce. You will keep all keep relevant paperwork including fridge temperatures, food temperatures, probe calibrations and wastage reports and keep kitchen and equipment up to food hygiene standards.

The successful candidate will have experience of cooking for larger numbers of people, managing a kitchen effectively and working harmoniously as part of a team.

You must have Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2, and an understanding of COSHH and HACCP systems.

HOUSEHOLD MANAGER (Live-In)
Salary: £12, 260 plus full board, and accommodation at the Centre.
Hours Full time (35 hours per week)
Contract Temporary Contract for 12 months (with possible extension)
 

We are seeking a highly organised and enthusiastic Household Manager, responsible for preparing and caring for guests and visitors , ensuring the smooth running of teachings, events, retreats and residential functions at the centre and representing Gomde UK to visitors.

Key tasks include, managing the volunteer housekeeping team (cleaning and laundry) and resident cook; working with the Events Coordinator in the running of the centre events and work retreats, managing the household diary and registration for events and room/bed bookings. You will prepare and manage the budget for household spending, maintaining accurate records, ensuring accurate stock control and ordering of household supplies and work with the Volunteer Coordinator to identify volunteer roles within the Household. You will liaise with organisations visiting Lindholme Hall or requesting visits from practitioners at Gomde.

The successful candidate will have experience of housekeeping and working harmoniously as part of a team.

LAND MANAGER (Live-In)

We are seeking an energetic land manager to maintain and enhance the grounds and gardens of the Lindholme estate and fulfil the Higher Level Stewardship (HLS) criteria. You don’t need to be a practicing Buddhist to join our thriving community, but you must be committed to making the community a success based on our Buddhist values centred on calmness, kindness, and clarity

The 180 acres Lindholme Estate comprises acidic grassland, mature woodland, birch scrub, formal gardens, arboretum, a vegetable garden and uncut peatland. There are species found on the estate that are not found anywhere else in the UK, together with some internationally important habitats. The range of habitats and management techniques provide a fantastic opportunity to someone who wishes to expand their conservation/estate management portfolio with practical experience in a truly unique setting surrounded by a team of enthusiastic and caring volunteers.

We enjoy a close relationship with Natural England, RSPB, YWT and independent conservationists/scientists of the ‘Lindholme Old Moor Management’ group (LOMM).

The successful candidate will also have an interest in developing our organic fruit and vegetable production, have skills in planning and prioritising work-loads and working harmoniously as part of a team.

Key management and hands-on responsibilities include:

All HLS deliverables
Developing the formal and vegetable gardens along with volunteer group
Contributing to estate planning
Liaising with local contractors and organisations, including Natural England, YWT & RSPB.
Oversight of all estate and garden work, including vehicles, tools and equipment.
Preparing budgets for equipment and materials, maintaining accurate records and ensuring accurate stock control.
Risk assessments and management.

Qualification: NVQ or equivalent in an environmental management or horticultural based qualification or other relevant qualification or previous experience in a similar position.

VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR
Temporary Contract for 12 months (with possible extension)

Hours Part-time -18 hours per week
Salary £7,488 (pro rata £14,460)

We are seeking an inspiring part-time Volunteer Co-ordinator to manage and expand our existing pool of volunteers, to establish and develop local networks.

You’ll be responsible for supporting managers in assessing and managing the contributions of volunteers, working with paid staff and volunteers to maximise the potential for volunteering at our centre. You will identify needs for volunteers at Gomde UK, lead in developing a volunteer recruitment plan and selection process and train others in the organisation to support and induct volunteers. Communicating the vision of the organisation and the part our volunteers play, you will establish links with local and national networks and support the work of our fundraising team.

The successful candidate will have experience of recruiting, supporting and managing volunteers and working harmoniously as part of a team.
