Programme 2019


Our range of programmes has again increased and we hope there will be something for everyone; those who wish to become acquainted with Buddhist ideas up to those wishing to undertake intensive retreat.
We are delighted that Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche will honour us with a teaching visit again this year. The seminar begins on the 21st August and concludes on the 27th of August. Registration is now open. Places fill quickly so please book early to avoid disappointment!
Rinpoche´s visits are always magical and filled with directly applicable insights to enable us to transform our limited mind into the mind of enlightenment. 
Lama Oser, our much loved resident Lama, will be with us once again to guide, encourage and teach. He will be leading a very full programme continuing his teachings on the Way of the Bodhisattva, an introduction to Tibetan Buddhisn,  a rare 6 day meditation retreat and covering retreats for the Three Roots; Guru, Yidam and Dakini.

31 May - 2 June Introductory Teachings  &  4 - 11 June week long in depth guidance and practice  
A Brilliant Sun - Stages of Practice of the Bodhisattvacaryavatara by Patrul Rinpoche
Khenpo Tokpa Tulku 
Khenpo Tokpa Tulku, a brilliant young Khenpo from Ka Nying Shedrub Ling Monastery, will guide us through Patrul Rinpoche´s instruction manual: how to study, reflect and meditate on one of the most significant texts on Bodhichitta - Shantideva´s The Way of the Bodhisattva.
This will be an experiential teaching to tame and train our mind and thereby allow the teachings to saturate our very being. We will offer an introductory week end, and also a more intensive week long seminar.

22 June
Lama Oser: Teaching on the Treasury of Blessings.Buddha Shakyamuni Practice
This practice based Buddha Shakyamuni. This is the practice that we do daily at Gomde Lindholme Hall. It is wonderful for beginners as it is easy to understand and supports many core teachings.  On closer inspection the text is also a treasure trove of teachings. Lama Oser will explain how to do the practice, explain some of the teachings. There will also be time for question and answers.

July 12-14
Lama Oser: The Patience Chapter from The Way of the Bodhisattva
Lama Oser will continue his teachings on this key Mahayana text - Shantideva’s The Way of Bodhisattva. The Patience chapter is renowned for its practical wisdom and we will conclude our study of it this weekend. Suitable for those who attended last year and newcomers as Lama will give a review.

July 19 - 21
Lama Oser: Introduction to Tibetan Buddhism

July 26 - 1 August
Lama Oser: Meditation Retreat.
You are able to attend this 6 day seminar for the week end ( 26-28 July) or for the whole six days.

This is a rare opportunity to immerse ourselves in understanding and the practice of calm abiding or Shamatha meditation. Lama Oser will provide essential back ground teachings and practical instructions. There will be plenty of time to apply the instructions and for questions and answers, all of which helps refine our practice.  
Shamatha is the base upon which all other meditations stand and therefore requires regualr review and practice.
This course is suitable for newcomers and experienced practitioners.    

August 4
Resounding the Dharma
To celebrate the first Turning of the Wheel of Dharma we host our annual day of Resounding the Dharma. Sutras, translated into English, are read aloud by participants in the meditation all. Everyone reading a different sutra creating a cacophony of sacred words. The affect is magical.

August 9-11
Lama Oser:  Kurekule Retreat
To create the auspicious and necessary conditions for the Dharma to flourish the Three Roots are required: Guru, Yidam and Dakini. Kurekule is the Dakini and Lama Oser will give us introductory teaching on this magnetizing Dakini.
Suitable for those with some experience of Sadhana practice.  

21- 27 August 
Chokyi Nyima Rinpoche Seminar 
Tibetan Buddhism acknowledges three distinct ways of cultivating learning, reflection, and meditation:

1) Studies of the view.

2) Meditation based on direct instruction.

3) The transfer of blessings.

20 - 22 September 
Vajrakilaya Retreat 
Lama Oser will lead this retreat providing authentic guidance instructions on ritual, mantra and mudra.
Please note the empowerment is required for this retreat.
4 - 6 October 
Dr Andreas Doctor- The Buddhist Response to the Climate Change
Man-made global warming and species mass extinction seem to be a depressing fact, does it even make sense to look for meaning and solutions in Buddhism?
Does an ancient religion have anything meaningful to contribute in a time filled with such unprecedented climate challenges?
Should we Buddhists perhaps revise the way we practice our religion in light of the great ethical and moral issues that the climate challenge raises?
